I have been dealing with sciatica for the past month and boy I can say that in the beginning IT HURT LIKE HELL!! First when I got it I could hardly sit or stand without having excruciating pain where it felt like my butt muscles as well as my hamstring were gonna rip right through my skin. Here's how I got injured in the first place. I have been physically inactive in any sports for the past seven years, so this year I decided that I needed to get back in shape. I rejoined my softball team and practiced really well. I was sore, but that was expected since my body hasn't had this much stress put on it in quite a while. The first few games rolled around and everything was all fine and good until one Saturday, I hit a hard line drive down the left field line and I sprinted like the athlete I was long ago and after rounding first base, I felt a pop in my right thigh and immediately felt a tight surging pain coming from my upper thigh area. I had ruptured my hamstring. What was worse was that a week ago, I had turned a double play (I play 2nd base) and the runner from first base was directly in my line of fire and to avoid beaming him right between the eyes, I twisted my body which at the time was a slight pain. Little did I know that I did more damage than I thought. Now back to the hamstring incident. The next few days to come, my hamstring was on ice and my butt and whole right leg were in excruciating pain. I didn't know what to make of it, but I started doing research online about it. I soon found information about my problem and was directed to youtube. These two videos have helped me immensely!! http://youtube.com/watch?v=5eR2fZE67ps and http://youtube.com/watch?v=sFiLb6BJtG4 ......you have to do these if you suffer from sciatica, it will help. I still have pain as it's only been a little past a month, but I can move around like a normal person again and the pain is tollerable. I hope this little blog helps someone.
